How to Cold Email an Investor
Note: You do not have to send the deck in the intro email. In fact, we suggest holding off on sending the deck until an intro call or they request one.
Follow-Ups
- Send the deck - typically use Docsend, although, some investors prefer pdfs or google links
- Share any learnings/accomplishments since you last spoke (bullets)
- Propose times to chat or share calendly
- Tell them your target raise & if you have any commitments. Say you started raising this week and really enjoyed the last convo so they are hearing from you first…
- If applicable, can add you are closing some strategic advisor commitments you promised early on
- Don’t tell them the valuation. If they ask just say we would like to keep dilution at x% for this first round of investors
- Always keep emails shorter and concise
